Multi-Material Capability
The BMG extruder feeds all materials with high reliability, from smooth nylons and soft TPU/TPE filaments to highly rigid and sometimes brittle carbon-filled high-strength materials. The extruder is designed for 1.75 mm filaments but has been tested to ensure performance with filaments ranging from 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm, enabling high reliability regardless of the tolerance of the filament used. The filament path runs entirely through the extruder body, and the housing maintains tight tolerances with the drive gears, reducing the risk of filament misfeeds when there is increased backpressure in the hot end or when using highly flexible filaments.
Adjustable Tension
With the knurled screw tensioner, the user can fine-tune the pressure exerted on the filament by the drive gears. This allows you to adjust the pressure to your preferences and optimize it for the type of material used.
Quick-release lever
To change materials in a flash, simply activate the quick-release lever to release the tension and pull the material to be replaced out of the extruder; keep it activated and insert the new material.
Multi-Application Design
This extruder can be used in a Bowden or direct setup, giving you the flexibility to choose what works best for your application. Additionally, it features an integrated hotend retention method compatible with E3D V6 hotends or others using the GrooveMount standard. Mounting your hotend is simple, secure, and wobble-free with just two screws.
Flexible Mounting Options
Bondtech has designed a standard mounting bracket, available both as a CNC-machined part and a 3D-printed part, which you can download for free from the STL archive. The standard bracket is CNC-machined from 3 mm aluminum for maximum stability. The extruder fits any Nema17 stepper motor with a standard 5 mm shaft. This extruder is sold without a motor. Weight of the extruder without motor: 75g. E-step value: 415.
New Design Features
The motor gear is made of brass. This corrosion-resistant material will eliminate the very rare instances of oxidation issues that occurred with the steel gears. The POM gear attached to the main shaft is now black. This is purely an aesthetic upgrade and reduces the visibility of dirt. The push-fit connector is now threaded. It can be removed and/or replaced to facilitate clearing blockages without damaging the BMG housing.
