This upgrade kit does not include gears and requires additional parts for installation (X-Carriage Kit).

Upgrade for your extruder

Upgrade your extruder to a Bondtech Mini Gearbox with a higher gear ratio—3:1—which provides additional thrust and higher resolution.

Print faster or with higher quality

Use a lightweight extruder that allows your 3D printer to print faster or achieve better surface quality.

Reduce 3D printing issues

Reduce the risk of heat buildup to prevent clogs, and improve filament feeding to prevent slippage and warping that cause under- and over-extrusion issues. For even more effective hot end cooling, we recommend a high-pressure fan.

Operating Temperature Limits

Keep in mind that when using this upgrade kit in an enclosed chamber, the following operating temperature limits apply:
Due to the HT PLA sensor plastic parts > up to 60°C (90-100°C if the parts are annealed); due to the stepper motor > up to 80°C.

Bondtech Extruder for Prusa i3 MK2.5S & MK3S

This kit contains only the parts necessary to upgrade your current extruder to a popular design based on our BMG (Bondtech Mini Geared) extruder with a 3:1 gear ratio for better precision and resolution, along with optimized geometry for heat sink cooling and a professional SLS 3D-printed housing.

Lightweight BMG (Bondtech Mini Gear)

With this version, we’ve also reduced the moving mass to minimize ghosting and vibrations or to increase print speed. A 15% weight reduction has been achieved.

Solving 3D printing problems The improved housing design enhances cooling and reduces the heat creep issues that all metal hotends experience when printing with PLA. This small improvement prevents many clogs. The increased print pressure drastically reduces filament slippage, tearing, and deformation, and prevents most common 3D filament printing issues, starting with under- and over-extrusion.

Firmware & MMU Updates

To use this upgrade on the MK2.5S / MK3S, the E-steps and Z_Max must be updated. To use the MMU2s with the Bondtech, an additional add-on is required. This allows the sensor to trigger as soon as the filament reaches the drive gears.
