SuperDry Drying Storage Cabinet SD-1106-21 at IGO3D

The SuperDry SD-1106-21 dry storage cabinet from Totech Europe is a large storage cabinet for 3D printing filaments. Various materials such as PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) or BVOH (butenediol-vinyl alcohol copolymer) are water-soluble support materials that decompose on contact with water or moisture. This material property offers advantages in the 3D printing process, but also some disadvantages if not stored correctly. Even normal atmospheric humidity can attack these filaments and make them unusable. By storing the materials correctly from the beginning, such difficulties can be avoided and the reliability and process stability can be increased.

Technical features of the SuperDry Totech SD-1106-21

The SD-1106-21 drying cabinet has six individual doors that can be locked with a key. The individual shelves withstand a load capacity of 50 kg per shelf. A capacitive sensor continuously monitors the internal humidity and temperature. Each door of the cabinet is controlled by a switch. As soon as all doors are closed, the internal air circulation starts with maximum drying capacity. A built-in door and humidity alarm warns in time of undesirable conditions (temperature and humidity).

The two drying units included guarantee a silent and maintenance-free operation with permanent process control. Due to a delayed regeneration there is no interruption in the drying process. In addition, all surfaces of the SD-1106-21 as well as the glass inserts of the doors are conductive and provide protection against dangerous discharges caused by ESD.

Advantages of the SuperDry Totech Drying Storage Cabinet SD-1106-21

The moisture absorption of various 3D printing filaments deteriorates the print quality. Not only the obvious materials PVA, BVOH and PA benefit from careful, correct storage. Various flexible filaments or thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPE, TPC and TPU) can also be damaged by moisture absorption. A moist filament usually results in a poorer print quality with a lot of "stringing", i.e. thread formation. In exceptional cases, the material can even become completely unusable, as it gets stuck in the material feeder.
