n-Butyl acetate is a clear, colorless solvent with a fruity odor. It is suitable for accelerating the evaporation of PGDA wash solvent on 3D-printed parts.

Combine with PGDA Wash Solvent for faster post-processing.

Formlabs polyurethane materials produce flexible and robust polyurethane parts that withstand extreme impacts and retain their shape over the long term. Due to their chemical composition, they can only be washed with PGDA wash solvent. To accelerate the evaporation rate of PGDA, wash the part in n-butyl acetate.

How to use n-butyl acetate

Always wear nitrile gloves when handling n-butyl acetate.
n-Butyl acetate has only been tested for use with Formlabs PU Rigid 650 & PU Rigid 650.

These instructions are based on washing parts with PGDA Wash Solvent.
n-Butyl acetate is used in the final step of the process.

To remove uncured resin from SLA or DLP-printed parts, fill your cleaning tank with the amount specified by the manufacturer. To minimize waste, it is recommended to pre-clean the parts before placing them in the cleaning tank to extend the life of your fresh PGDA. This can be done in a separate container using either "dirty" PGDA from previous cleaning cycles. Place the finished print into the cleaning tank and clean the parts for at least 2 minutes or according to the material manufacturer’s guidelines. After the cleaning cycle, blow off the PGDA-coated part with compressed air and wash it with n-butyl acetate to accelerate evaporation. Let the model dry and check if the surface is sticky; repeat the process if necessary until the surface is no longer sticky. If it is still sticky, this could be a sign that the PGDA needs to be replaced.

Optimal Cleaning Steps

Pre-clean in a small container to remove uncured resin and minimize the amount of saturated cleaning solvent
First cleaning stage: Run a wash cycle in Form Wash using "dirty/used" PGDA wash solvent
Second cleaning stage: Run the wash cycle in Form Wash with fresh PGDA Wash Solvent. Due to previous wash cycles, this PGDA can be used for an extended period. If performance declines, repeat the first step.
Final step: Remove PGDA wash solvent with compressed air and rinse with n-butyl acetate to accelerate the evaporation of the PGDA wash solvent.

How to store n-butyl acetate
