PGDA Wash Solvent

PGDA Wash Solvent (propane-1,2-diyldiacetate) is a non-flammable, low-odor solvent used to clean and dissolve uncured resin from stereolithography (SLA) 3D-printed parts. PGDA has a lower evaporation rate than isopropanol (IPA) and can clean approximately three to four times as many parts as isopropanol before it needs to be replaced.

Formulated for Formlabs Polyurethane Resins PU Rigid 650 & PU Rigid 650

Formlabs polyurethane materials produce flexible and tough polyurethane parts that withstand extreme impacts and retain their shape over the long term. Due to their chemical composition, they can only be washed with PGDA Wash Solvent. TPM Wash solvent does not work, and isopropanol can damage the parts.

PGDA Wash Solvent is not classified under EU Regulation 1272/2008 (CLP). Therefore, there are no special requirements for the storage or handling of PGDA Wash Solvent. This makes it ideal for use in office spaces, laboratories, and indoor environments.

The cost-effective way to post-process 3D prints made from polyurethane resin

PGDA Wash Solvent can dissolve three to four times the amount of resin that isopropanol is capable of dissolving. When used with the recommended pre-wash cycles, the service life of PGDA can be further extended, making it cost-effective.

Using PGDA Wash Solvent

Always wear nitrile gloves when handling PGDA.

To remove uncured resin from SLA or DLP-printed parts, fill your cleaning tank with the amount specified by the manufacturer. To minimize waste, it is recommended to pre-clean parts before placing them in the cleaning tank to extend the life of your fresh PGDA. This can be done in a separate container using either "dirty" PGDA from previous cleaning cycles. Place the finished print into the cleaning tank and clean the parts for at least 2 minutes or according to the material manufacturer’s guidelines. After the cleaning cycle, blow off the PGDA-coated part with compressed air and wash it with n-butyl acetate to accelerate evaporation. Allow the model to dry and check if the surface is sticky. If necessary, repeat the process until the surface is no longer sticky. If it is still sticky, the PGDA should be replaced.

Optimal Cleaning Steps

Pre-clean in a small container to remove uncured resin and minimize the amount of saturated cleaning solvent
First cleaning stage: Run a wash cycle in Form Wash using "dirty/used" PGDA wash solvent
Second cleaning stage: Run the wash cycle in Form Wash with fresh PGDA wash solvent. Due to the previous wash cycles, this PGDA can be used for an extended period. If performance declines, repeat the first step.
4. Final stage: Remove PGDA wash solvent with compressed air and rinse in n-butyl acetate to accelerate the evaporation of the PGDA wash solvent.
