Kimya PEI-9085 is an engineering plastic that offers advantages in terms of mechanical properties. The material is heat-resistant and flame-retardant in accordance with UL94 V0 and FAR 25.853. PEI (polyetherimide) is a high-performance polymer primarily used in industrial applications. PEI is also sold under the brand name “ULTEM,” which was developed by the Saudi Arabian company Sabic. Kimya PEI-9085 is also based on original ULTEM from Sabic or Saudi Aramco. The automotive industry, the aerospace sector, and the general mechanical engineering industry, in particular, use this material due to its dimensional stability and flame resistance. In addition, the material offers good chemical resistance.

Differences Between Kimya PEI-9085 and Kimya PEI-1010

Both Kimya and other manufacturers generally offer two different variants of polyetherimide on the market. Both materials meet the UL94 V0 standard for flame retardancy. Beyond that, PEI-1010 is resistant to a wider range of chemicals and offers better dimensional stability and heat resistance. PEI-9085, on the other hand, is generally easier to process and offers better ductility and flexibility. This can be helpful when a component needs to be impact-resistant yet slightly flexible (for example, to manufacture a clip).
