Magigoo Metal for BASF Ultrafuse 316L is the perfect complement to the stainless steel filament

Magigoo Metal is a professional first-layer adhesive specifically designed for BASF Ultrafuse 316L. The adhesive is non-hazardous, non-flammable, and approved for use in the post-processing stages of Ultrafuse 316L. Magigoo Metal also allows for easy removal of the green parts from the build plate.

Advantages of Magigoo Metal

BASF Ultrafuse 316L enables the production of solid stainless steel parts in 316L quality using desktop FDM 3D printers and a sintering process. The Ultrafuse 316L filament consists of high-purity metal particles embedded in a thermoplastic binder. As a filament, this metal-polymer composite therefore poses none of the occupational and safety risks associated with handling fine metal powders. This enables cost-effective, simple, and safe 3D printing of stainless steel parts. Due to the thermoplastic nature of the filament binder materials and the varying rates of thermal cooling during FDM printing, parts printed with BASF Ultrafuse 316L are prone to warping. Furthermore, due to the delicate nature of the green part, care must be taken when removing parts printed with BASF Ultrafuse 316L to prevent deformation of the part. Magigoo Metal ensures secure and reliable adhesion during printing and allows for easy removal of the printed part by immersing it in water, thereby preventing potential damage to the green part.

Applications of Magigoo Metal

A build plate temperature of 95–105 °C is recommended for using Magigoo Metal with BASF Ultrafuse 316L; however, printing conditions may vary from printer to printer.

Shake the bottle.
Apply to the desired area by pressing the tip onto the bed (activating the internal valve) and spreading as needed.
Print according to the filament/printer manufacturer’s recommendations.
After printing, submerge the entire build plate in water or soak the area around the part with water. After a short time—usually 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the size of the part—the part should come off on its own or be easy to remove.
Clean off any residue with a damp cloth.

Usage Notes

Using this product with filaments or materials other than BASF Ultrafuse 316L may result in “over-adhesion” and damage to your build surface. Follow the instructions in the technical data sheet for best results.
