Polymaker PolyMide PA6-GF Filament at IGO3D

PolyMide PA6-GF is a glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide (nylon) filament. This material is an engineering-grade filament primarily used by industrial applications.

Polymaker Fiber Adhesion Technology

Fiber Adhesion Technology improves layer adhesion in fiber-reinforced materials by optimizing the surface chemistry of the fibers to achieve better dispersion and bonding to the polyamide matrix. This results in greater strength along the Z-axis and lower mechanical anisotropy compared to a part printed with pure Nylon PA6. This proprietary technology was developed exclusively to address the challenge of adding fibers to filaments. All other branded fiber-reinforced materials exhibit lower Z-axis layer adhesion compared to their non-fiber-reinforced nylon counterparts, resulting in parts that are stronger only in the X-Y axes but weaker in the Z-axis. Polymaker’s new technology not only solves this problem but also increases tensile strength along the Z-axis, resulting in more isotropic parts that are strong in every direction.

Advantages of Polymaker PolyMide PA6-GF

PolyMide PA6-GF is a glass-fiber-reinforced nylon (PA6) that offers excellent mechanical properties (impact strength and stiffness). The material exhibits excellent thermal and mechanical properties without compromising layer adhesion. PolyMide PA6-GF can be used to print parts that operate over a wide temperature range and has been used to manufacture custom laboratory equipment that operates at temperatures as low as -190°C.

Applications of Polymaker PolyMide PA6-GF

Polymaker PolyMide PA6-GF is part of the manufacturer’s Industrial Line. Accordingly, the filament is aimed at professional, industrial users who produce end-use parts. Due to its good resistance to low temperatures, the material is used to manufacture laboratory equipment and custom mounts. In addition to mechanical engineering and the automotive industry, the filament is also used in laboratory technology and plant engineering.

Note: In February 2022, Polymaker began transitioning all filaments to cardboard spools. This transition will take place gradually over an extended period. Both the manufacturer and we, as a retailer, will of course sell off the old inventory first before the new spools become available. The filament itself remains unchanged by this transition; it is merely a change in packaging, along with a new EAN and SKU number.
