Support filament
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and butenediol vinyl alcohol copolymer (BVOH) are water-soluble plastics which are used in FDM 3D printing mainly for support structures and supports. The material dissolves quickly in a water bath and can thus be washed off printed objects. The resulting waste water can be disposed of in the casting, provided that it is connected to a sewage treatment plant. As PVA and BVOH are hygroscopic and absorb water, humidity can also add to the filament. We therefore recommend the use of a drying box such as the Polybox from Polymaker. This keeps the material in a safe place so that it does not break. Alternatively, you can also use the resealable, airtight plastic bags that are usually supplied with the product.
