The Ultimaker S5 is an office-ready desktop FDM printer that features a large build volume and is capable of producing parts with precision and industrial-grade quality. Furthermore, with user-friendliness in mind, the device has been equipped with a filament sensor and a simplified consumables replacement system, ensuring nothing stands in the way of high production quality and reliability.

Ultimaker Essentials
At the Digital Transformation Summit on April 20, Ultimaker announced that, starting April 21, all Ultimaker S3, S5, and 2+ Connect 3D printers will be shipped with Ultimaker Essentials.
Ultimaker Essentials is a package consisting of Ultimaker Cura Enterprise (a version of Ultimaker Cura with additional benefits, such as user management) and online e-learning courses.

Enhanced Reliability
The Ultimaker S5 impresses with its enhanced reliability. The previous models from the Dutch company Ultimaker already demonstrated a high level of reliability. With the Ultimaker S5, a variety of factors have contributed to raising this standard even further.
The Ultimaker S5 features all the characteristics of the Ultimaker 3 and includes additional optimizations to ensure even more reliable production. A key component here is the so-called filament flow sensor, which monitors the material feed and signals when new material is needed. Printing is paused for this purpose and can then resume seamlessly.
The filament feeder has also been redesigned to make adding new filament to the machine even easier and faster. An ergonomic locking lever on the feeder at the rear of the Ultimaker S5 allows you to effortlessly change filaments or feed new filament.
In addition to its stylish housing, the Ultimaker S5 features—for the first time as standard—a closed front with tinted glass doors, which ensure optimal internal temperature and airflow. Furthermore, the power supply has been integrated inside the unit, enabling straightforward and uniform installation in shelving systems.
Larger Build Volume
The large build volume, combined with dual extrusion and water-soluble support material, is a truly unique selling point on the market. Complex geometries can now be realized even for larger parts. Additionally, Ultimaker has responded to customer requests to be able to print multiple instances of a part side by side. This expands the printer’s range of applications and opens up further possibilities.
The build volume dimensions are as follows: 330 x 240 x 300 mm. The print bed comes standard with a glass plate, which has proven itself in the past.

The easy-to-change Print Cores ensure that the Ultimaker S5 can be set up with a new configuration in just a few seconds and can also be maintained effortlessly and without tools. Meanwhile, the 11.9 cm touchscreen ensures intuitive operation and provides all the necessary data for optimal monitoring of all processes. Every step—whether during maintenance, printing, or a simple filament change—is supported by high-resolution images and detailed descriptions.
During the development of the Ultimaker S5, special attention was paid to the user experience. Even if you’ve never used a 3D printer before, you can get started right away with this professional 3D printer—at an industrial level.
This flexibility is reflected in the variety of materials as well as in the interchangeable nozzles available in a wide range of diameters (0.25 / 0.4 / 0.8 mm). The former is made possible by the heated print bed and, additionally, by interchangeable print plates. Ultimaker ships the device with a proven glass plate.
