Titan Extruder by E3D

Titan can be mounted on most RepRap 3D printers to improve extrusion and is the recommended extruder for all of our hot ends. For a complete motion system, you will need 2 x 1.75 mm standard Bowden Titan with motors, as well as 2 mirrored versions.

Performance

Thanks to a 3:1 gear ratio, precision-milled gear cutters, and an adjustable deflection lever, the Titan is a powerful extruder that is both lightweight and compact.

Efficiency

The 3:1 gear ratio means you can use lighter motors, as you need less torque to achieve the same filament thrust. Direct-drive setups thus have a lighter moving carriage, and Bowden setups become powerful, reliable printers when combined with an E3D V6 HotEnd.

Versatile

Titan is well-suited for all configurations: Bowden, direct, 1.75 mm, and 3.0 mm. To switch between filament diameters, simply replace the filament guide and the Bowden adapter/HotEnd.

Speed

Extruders with high gear ratios often fail during fast retraction and struggle to keep up with the Volcano heat block. Titan’s balanced 3:1 gear ratio means you can handle fast extrusion scenarios like those with the Volcano, and the lightweight gearset ensures fast retractions.

Resolution

With direct-drive extruders, problems with "pulsating" flow can occur due to the lower resolution of the gearing and the planer teeth. This can lead to a wavy surface finish, which is particularly noticeable when printing with low layer heights. Using a 3:1 gear ratio triples the system’s resolution and enables smoother printing at the lowest layer heights when using the smallest nozzles.
